Synthetic Cannabinoids Q&A

Synthetic cannabinoids (spice) has been making a comeback lately.

The progress over the past years has been rapidly developing, starting from basic adulterated products to increase-weight contamination, onto synthesizing cannabinoids through chemical reactions - but now, we have taken a step back in the development: "Spice/K2" chemicals are being spotted in products, especially documented in the Gray market.

This is my personal assessment of how the shift of fraudulent products has been developing:

I have compiled the answers from the most recent Q&A regarding synthetic cannabinoids below:

No.

Question

Answer

1.

What is 5F-MDMB-PINACA

5F-MDMB-PINACA is a synthetic cannabinoid. It sparked my interest many years ago, due to how it can look like hashish.

2.

What's that PINACA thing? Please explain in detail

It is a potent cannabinoid which can result in death. It has a crystal-like texture along with a light brown color, thus easy to disguise in hashish products, especially when pressed.

The bars may look like this:

3.

Can I actually smoke drysift and don't expect to inhale and synthetic cannabinoid?

For this question, the general answer would be no. The market has evolved to extremely professionally adulterated products. It is impossible to determine whether it is safe to consume or not as a consumer.

If you are a experienced consumer, you may be able to know whether something is off or not, but as an average or novice consumer, you would have to use a verified, licensed shop.

4.

How to spot sprayed products? (continued below)

This is a very interesting subject, as some sprayed products are easier to spot than others. I found this bud which is claiming to be "THX":

"THX", legal high cannabis bud
"THX", legal high cannabis bud

This bud has a substance on it which is not natural: it is thus sprayed. I usually look at the stalks to verify the trichome stalks and whether they look genuine or not. For THCa products, you can easily verify the isolate crystals/distillate.

I have heard rumors of some vendors using liquid active substances instead of crystals, as the liquid will be sucked into the bud, leaving it entirely impossible to see whether it is clean or not.

5.

(continued) What do you think about hash/weed contaminated by pesticide?

I believe this is a widespread issue and it has been for many years - unfortunately, they may also be using pesticides in Moroccan farms. And also in the legal THCa being sold in shops.

A March 2026 Nature study using FAOSTAT data places Morocco's annual agricultural pesticide application at 13,697 tons, confirming its position as one of the highest consumers in Africa. Additional studies and industry data indicate total annual usage ranges from 17,000 to over 17,500 tons.

We can only assume this also applies to their cannabis productions.

6.

How harmful are the effects of it all if consumed daily?

If you are consuming synthetic cannabinoids, you should expect severe health reductions, if not immediately. It may also result in death due to potency variation and general organ damage by synthetic cannabinoids. It is a very serious consequence and is nothing alike the consequences of cannabis consumption.

If you consume semi-synthetic cannabis daily, the lasting results are unknown. Expect contamination consumption over the years, which may increase risk of cancer. Some contamination may pose immediate risks.

7.

Can this also be used in rosin or BHO extracts?

Synthetic cannabinoids can be mixed into almost anything you can imagine. They are made in various colors and texture variations. Some may be mixed into hashish, some may be mixed into vape liquid.

On the 20th of February 2026, it was reported by Danish authorities that a person had died due to vaping a synthetic cannabinoid vape liquid.

The vaped drug in question was 5F-ADB / 5F-MDMB-PINACA.

8.

How to 100% know if a vape is THC or synthetic

There are methods to get closer to the answer of authenticity, but if authentic, there may be hidden contaminants in the vape/cartridge.

I would highly recommend to steer clear of THC vape liquids from the gray market or black market.

To supplement the article, I would highly recommend checking out some of the past articles that delves into the subject of synthetic cannabinoids. I have tried to dig up prices so that we, as consumers, can understand the profit margins on the market, and how serious these actors are.

I have made a database on which users can share their experiences with products and help other consumers on selecting clean products.

Give it a shot, and log your latest cannabis consumption experience, and help the next person! Or simply check up on the logged entries. Just press on the link: Database Direct Link

If you happen to have a bad or good experience - or simply have the luxury of having your hands on many products, it would be extremely valuable to hear your opinion of the products you try.
